With a voice described as ‘truly astonishing’ by Rolling Stone, Anna Smyrk is a powerful singer and songwriter from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). She has an exquisite ability to match muscular indie pop instrumentation with melodic lyrics that are filled with witty, self-deprecatory observations on the human condition.
The last few years have been massive for Anna, with highlights including multiple of tours North America and Europe and official showcases at SXSW (Austin TX) and Folk Alliance International (Kansas City, MO).
In 2023, she recorded an EP in Nashville with award-winning producers Jake Finch and Collin Pastore (Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus). The record charted on college radio in the US and singles were added to MTV in Germany and to Apple Music’s New Indie playlist across multiple territories including the US.
She’s toured non-stop, supporting some of Australia’s biggest artists (Birds of Tokyo, Tim Rogers), performing at festivals such as Port Fairy Folk Festival (AUS), Woodford Folk Festival (AUS) and Mile of Music (USA). She's showcased at international festivals and events including SXSW (USA), NXNE (Canada), Folk Alliance International (USA) and Live at Heart (Sweden). On the back of this success, she signed with booking agents in 3 territories (Onya Soapbox in Australia, ROLA Music in Europe and Black Oak Artists in North America).
Anna’s 2021 EP, a collection of long-distance love songs, was produced with Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe) and described as “cathartic” by Rolling Stone, while the lead single from the EP was added to rotation on Double J (national Australian radio)

Produced by Anna Laverty (Courtney Barnett, Nick Cave), the record is a glittering collection showcasing exceptional songwriting, driving 90s guitar tones, heart-wrenching lyrics and Anna's delicate yet robust vocals.
The record deals with denial in many guises: denial of how you really feel, denial after losing a loved one, the denial about the future. With sonic inspiration ranging from Blondie to Phoebe Bridgers, Garbage to Billie Eilish and Angie McMahon to Hozier, this first full length offering from Anna Smyrk showcases a sophisticated songwriter at the height of her powers.
